Original Cast to Guest Star?
There have been reports on the internets hinting that the production team would like the original cast to guest star or join the cast as new characters. To be honest, when I first saw an advert, I thought the priest /was/ Marc Singer. I don't see why they can't work them in as basic supporting cast, much as Richard Hatch joined BSG. Throwing Marc Singer in as Scott Wolf's boss would be great... or actually, he'd be more appropriate as some Hunter-esque gonzo reporter.
Peters and Pearlman's Commentary on the Pilot
I like how the exec producers did the commentary on ABC's website. Definitely go catch it. However, the commentary is as text, not as voice or visuals, so it isn't distracting. If the video is full-screened, the commentary is lost. Viewers who have yet to see the pilot yet should watch it fresh and /then/ take in the producer's comments. I personally like to form my own opinion initially and then be exposed to other people's impressions.

ABC's V Website
ABC's website for V is interesting. There is a sign-up for the Peace Ambassador's Program - be either a peace ambassador or a member of the Resistance. Both sound interesting, but I chose to join the Ambassador's Program. The Anna thanks you for your interest and your status is put on Facebook. The website also allows users to join the Resistance, which is a prime opportunity to spy on the traitors. I shall keep Anna abreast of their plans.
The premiere will be shown online with commentary on Saturday, which looks exciting. There are two options - expert commentary and fan commentary. You will need to have a Facebook site in order to create a commentary, which makes me think there's more than one conspiracy here. The link to the V Shop doesn't work yet - must not have any products. Have just ordered V: The Second Generation.

First Impressions of Premiere
Ratings, Demographics, Casting Incidentals:
Tuesday, November 3rd at 8pm, ABC aired the newly reimagined V series to high numbers in key demographics. Eonline reports Nielson estimates at an average of 13.9 million viewers and Zap2It reports that the show took the 18-49 demographic with a 5.2 rating. There were more viewers in the second half of the show than there were on the first half. This isn't bad at all considering the internet reports that some local rural markets co-opted the show in order to air sports programming instead.
So, according to the numbers, the show was a success. It certainly had science fiction media in the credits. Kenneth Johnson, the original creator, is listed in the credits alongside Scott Peters (The 4400) who takes the helm in the update. Cast includes scifi vets Elizabeth Mitchell (Lost), Morena Baccarin (Firefly), Joel Gretsch (The 4400), and Laura Vandervoot (Smallville). Experienced and more mainstream actors Morris Chestnut and Scott Wolf round out the cast. Logan Huffman (Tyler Evans) incidentally has a strong resemblance to Charlie Finn, a gueststar on Castle last season, making me think the kid had been on shows with three former Firefly cast - Alan Tudyk (Wash), Nathan Fillion (Mal), and of course Morena Baccarin (Inara). For a few minutes I was /really/ excited there.
